Disciplinary Policy

The Bentleigh Bowling Club has revised its Code of Conduct which will now be referred to as the Club’s Disciplinary Policy.

The Committee sincerely hopes that no incidents occur that will require the application of the Club’s policy. However, you can ensure this by keeping in mind the following simple principles:

  • Treat all members, visitors and guests as you would like to be treated yourself.
  • Keep your audience and those nearby in mind when using colourful language. If asked to tone it down, do so without question.
  • Respect other people’s opinions, even if they are not the same as yours.
  • Keep your emotions in check when arguing your point.
  • Never engage in conduct which could be viewed as
    • Harassment;
    • Aggression;
    • Offensive; or
    • Discriminatory on whatever grounds (e.g. race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, physical or psychological characteristics).
  • When playing away, always keep in mind that you are representing our Club and what it stands for.

If you are witness to any of these types of behaviours or have yourself been the subject of unacceptable behaviour, and you feel safe in doing so, let the person know how you feel and hopefully the behaviour stops right there.

Should the policy need to be applied, the Disciplinary Committee will support the core values of fairness, justice, integrity, respect and equity when applying the Club’s policy.

We feel strongly that all people should be able to enjoy their time at our Club, including engaging in innocent “mischief”.  We believe that the Club’s disciplinary policy should not restrict or inhibit this playfulness and colour provided we are all sensible and respectful.
